Innovative Technology at LoCA
FileHandler is a paperless, web-based, multi-line claims administration system designed to support carriers, third-party administrators, public entities, and self-insured organizations in administering claims for all lines of business, including workers compensation, auto, liability, and property. We chose to use FileHandler because the system is designed in a way that enhances our client’s current processes and productivity.
System Security Features
To protect the confidentiality of our clients’ records, LoCA is committed to using only the best network, web applications, server infrastructures and operating system environments. FileHandler resides in a secure data center (XIOLINK) in St. Louis, MO. This helps ensure that client data is safe, secure and accessible in the event of a catastrophe in South Louisiana or in the LoCA offices.
FileHandler’s user security features make it HIPAA-compliant. Each user has a unique user ID and HIPAA-compliant password. FileHandler Security is a powerful yet intuitive tool that both simplifies and streamlines security administration while maintaining the highest standards for data security and integrity. Security levels are configurable so that clients can grant access by role or group. The system can also be structured to provide report-only access.
Data Reporting
FileHandler provides our clients with a powerful reporting platform to meet the most stringent reporting requirements. Its reporting tools are intuitive and extremely flexible. The software includes a fully integrated reporting engine that allows for real-time claim, financial, and workload database queries based on a virtually unlimited set of criteria defined by the user from a set of pick-list menus.
Its Standard Reporting, Ad Hoc Reporting, and Risk and Claims Analysis capabilities include more than 60 standardized reports, including loss run reports, claim list reports, 1099 reports, and safety analysis reports. These can be generated in a variety of formats, including .pdf, .xls, or.doc file types, as well as graphically, as demonstrated below.
Reports can be scheduled to run at any interval—e.g., daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, etc.—and distributed via e-mail or the Electronic Report Distribution Tool, a user-customized function that provides a centralized repository of customized, auto-generated reports that are automatically updated based on user-defined specifications.
FileHandler’s Ad Hoc Audit tool is a user-friendly, front-end data reporting tool that accommodates customized queries. It allows users to pull from every data field in the database with filtering and group-by options.
In addition to these real-time report interfaces, FileHandler’s Dashboard features an automated alert system that enables organizations to define, track, and benchmark quantifiable measurements or key performance indicators (KPIs). The Dashboard can automatically send notifications of KPI breaches via email to designated stakeholders.
OSHA Reporting
FileHandler’s OSHA Reporting module provides an automated process for completing OSHA’s Form 300 (Log of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses) and OSHA’s Form 300A (Summary of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses). These reports can be accessed and generated at any time.
Electronic Data Integration (EDI)
FileHandler provides EDI capabilities for regulatory reporting and bill review.
